You can still register for conference attendance!
The second annual interdisciplinary conference, “The Body Project,” organized by graduate students for their colleagues (including research assistants and post-docs) at the University of Missouri, is designed to promote student research from a wide range of fields, which focuses on conceptions of bodies: spatial, physical, symbolic, metaphysical. Proposals will be peer reviewed and conference participants will have their abstracts published on the conference website.
We welcome proposals on completed research, literature reviews, or creative projects from graduate students or affiliated researchers in any field. For presentations (limited to 15 minutes) please submit a CV and a 300-word abstract as a PDF or Word file. We will also accept suggestions for proposal sessions, providing that you submit the title of the proposed panel and encourage panel participation which is interdisciplinary in nature. Please submit your proposal to mugradbodyproject@missouri.edu by February 13, 2009 at 5 pm.
In addition, we will be accepting proposals this year for a graduate plenary speaker. This speaker will be one of two for the conference, with the other spot reserved for a member of the faculty/staff of the university. Please submit a CV, 500-word abstract, and a letter of support from a faculty advisor as either PDF or Word file for the proposed 40-minute presentation. An honorarium of $200 will be awarded to this plenary speaker. Deadline for submissions is also February 13, 2009 at 5 pm to mugradbodyproject@missouri.edu.
“The Body Project” is sponsored by the English Graduate Student Association in collaboration with the Center for Arts and Humanities, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, MU Libraries, the International Center, the Graduate Student Association (GSA), and the Division of Biological Sciences.
